This is just another way of saying super awesome, or really awesome, or doubly awesome. Except saying “awesome, awesome” is boring and redundant, so why not find a word that rhymes and make it more fun, right? So, “awesome possum” was born.
I am sure this saying has little to do with the Tengen video game named “Awesome Possum,” btw. Which was a knock-off of Sonic the Hedgehog. I mean, it’s one thing to say “awesome possum” when u want to emphasize the awesome-ness of something. It’s another to make a video game about possum.
